Protein Power Wraps

July 28, 2013 1 Comments

An ideal combination of lean protein, nutrient packed greens and a variety of flavours and textures.

Make sure the meats you are using are organic or local and free from antibiotics, hormones et cetera. Or you may roast your own. The same quality control goes for the vegetables, organic & local if possible, rinse thoroughly.

The following is a general list, feel free to incorporate any vegetables you see fit.

The Proteins:

the proteins

The Greens:

  • Sunflower Sprouts
  • Lettuces, watercress
  • Cilantro, Dill, Parsley
  • Cucumber – Thinly Sliced
  • Asparagus - you will want to lightly steam or cook the asparagus, sprinkle with salt & pepper, a squeeze of lemon.
  • Green onion, Shallots – Thinly Sliced
  • Mushrooms
  • Radishes – Thinly Sliced

The Extras:

olivesfeta

  • A soft Goat’s Cheese or Sheep’s Milk Feta
  • Sliced Olives
  • Herbs
  • Avocado – Thinly Sliced
  • Sundried Tomatoes – Thinly Sliced
  • Grain Mustards
  • Hot sauces

Chop up the shallots and use some of these to sauté with the mushrooms in a small amount of olive oil, salt & pepper.

Once you have all of the vegetables rinsed, chopped, sliced, steamed et cetera it is time to make your wraps.

Time to get Creative.

Choose your protein, lay it flat and spread with your mustard, goat cheese or keep it plain. Add your choices of vegetables and roll them them up. You do not need to put too much in the wraps, they will not stay together if they are too full.

Suggested Wrap Combinations:

  • Smoked Salmon, herbed goat cheese spread thinly, fresh dill, shallots, asparagus, sunflower sprouts.
  • Roast Beef, Sheep’s milk Feta, sautéed mushrooms and shallots, chopped thyme, avocado and sundried tomato.
  • Roast Turkey, spicy dijon mustard, cilantro, sundried tomato, avocado, radish, sunflower sprouts.

The combinations are endless!! Enjoy!
